Father Knows Best? 090802
Okay, here I go again. I just got my last week’s newsletter done yesterday which was Thursday. I am starting this weeks on Friday so that I will be able to get it done on Monday and get all caught up. I am sitting at an Alumni meeting at Aspen Grove in just a beautiful setting. I am listening to things I have heard may times before so I can type away on my palm pilot keyboard and will be able to get a lot of this done today.
I left off last week talking about the pageant. Well, on Sunday we were all beat and very thankful that our church does not start until one. We all slept in and took it easy, after church and dinner I had a surprise for mom. I told her before dinner and had her guess and she was not even close with any of her feeble attempts to guess. So when we got done eating I told her to pack her bags for we were leaving for the night. The first word out of her mouth was YARDLEY? Yes, she was right I had made arrangements for us to spend the night at the Yardley inn in Manti. So, we got in the truck and took off for Manti.
The Yardley Inn is one of mom's favorite places to go. They have all kinds of saunas, hot tubs and other contraptions that make you feel all relaxed and comfortable. And the owner Marlene is a good friend. The best thing of all was that we were the only ones there. We had a very peaceful and relaxing night and woke up in the morning and enjoyed a leisurely morning and a good breakfast and were home by noon .
Then the fun began. Mom had promised the kids we would go to buy school clothes. We started this great event by going with Crystal to see her wedding dress. It is very pretty she will be a beautiful bride. Then we were off and running. We stopped at a few places in Orem but did most of the damage at the stores at VF Factory Outlet. This all worked out well because we were able to get much of the stuff at 30% to 40% off. Mom and I even found us some needed clothes at a discount. We got home later than we wanted to but we had a good time.
Now and update for Brady on BYU football. BYU won there first game of the season. They played Syracuse from New York and were picked to win by 3. They won 42-21 and all three of the touchdowns made by the Orangemen of Syracuse were because of BYU turnovers. Engleman the new quarterback passed for almost 400 yards and the new running back Marcus Whalen ran for almost 140 yards. The defense was strong which was a big weakness last year. So I think this will be a pretty good year. We will see. they play U of Hawaii this afternoon so I will update you on this game a little later.
I have one more big catering weekend this weekend as I have a class reunion and a wedding dinner to take care of tomorrow. They are both at one and so we will split up and conquer. Then after that I might have a Saturday that I can call my own and get something done in the yard. Well, we shall see.
It is now Sunday morning and since we don't have church until one I have been able to rest and take it easy for awhile, prepare my primary lesson and finish my newsletter. Everything went as planned over the weekend. As I mentioned earlier BYU played Hawaii, I was not able to see the game and only listened to part of it on the radio but they won a hard fought battler by three points. It was interesting to read all the comments in the paper after the game. Fans from Hawaii acted as if they had won and the BYU fans acted as if they had lost. I don't get how funny fans can be sometimes. Hawaii has a great team that will surprise a lot of people and BYU struggled a little but that was because they were playing a good team. But they still won. My catering events went really well. Crystal, Matt and Kyra stayed here in Nephi to handle one and KK, Adaiza, Britta, Corton and I did the one in Pleasant Grove. It really rained hard in PG. There was water every where. After the event we went to Provo to see KK"s apartment. Maybe I have not mentioned that KK has moved to Provo . She got a new job at Young Living in Springville, bought Kirk and Laurie’s old car and moved up to Provo to live in an apartment with her friend Holly. So she is on a new adventure.
Just mentioning Kirk and Laurie I don't know how much Brady and Amber know about their babies but they are having twins and they found out a couple week that they are both boys. Logan was real excited to find that out. They are all excited and we are so happy for them.
Friday night we went to Andrea Frampton’s wedding held in the senior citizen center. It was supposed to be at the Old Mill Reception Center but the rain stopped that or I should say the "inclement weather" which is what you have to say when you are talking about bad weather for a wedding. It was really nice. She and her husband looked really happy. We also talked to Travis for a minute and he is getting married again in November to a girl from Beaver. They also looked to be happy.
Well now I get to enjoy the rest of the Sabbath. We get a new bishop today. That is always an interesting time for a ward. Well, I will close now and remind you all to learn to love and love to learn.
Love Dad
